“…Pass the jar of leeches, please. And would you please bring the incense closer?  Quick shut the door – no fresh air!”  What century are we living in?  And what century do we wish we were living in?

Speaking for myself, as someone who has suffered year after year with painful chronic neurological Lyme disease, I must confess that there are days that I wonder if living 500 years ago in Austria, India, Tibet or Beijing would have brought swift and painless healing (for the right price of course).

Our modern age of medicine is causing higher cost for medicine and insurance and yet the sick are getting sicker (I feel sick just saying that pathetic truth that grows worse with more money and more research – not better.)

I do not like to sound as if I am willing to throw the baby out with the bath water – I am not.

I am sincerely hopeful that dedicated and courageous researchers will puzzle out the mystery of Lyme disease and send conventional doctors home to think about what went wrong (in a perfect world.)

In our imperfect world, there will be serious pushing and shoving for the “New Lyme Vaccine” – I am already biased against it as I will explain in a later post.

However, the purpose of this post is to clear off the table and take a look at the problem.

We know it is medical; a bacteria that can be observed, replicated and destroyed.

Unlike mystery diseases like “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Autism and even Alzheimer’s.

Our mythical doctor at Success Hospital sounds alot like my aunt’s, “…we know what you have, we just don’t know what causes it.  Here Ms. King, take these pills and you will feel better.  Or we can perform surgery…let me check my schedule.”

We don’t want more pills or surgery, we want to be healed.  And to be healed, we must align our body’s electrical system, spiritual system, physical system….

As I repeatedly tell my readers, I am not a licensed medical practitioner OR a licensed mechanic.  It would appear that both would help quite a bit.

The alignment…the alignment.  Our mind, body, spirit and soul – they need to be aligned!

Of course the irony is that it means one thing to one person, and another to someone else, and that is the beauty and frustration of the human condition.

And it is why I refuse to give up hope, and why you should too.

Some day we will be remembered as the courageous warriors that suffered through the years it took researchers to unlock the genetic puzzle.  Some just can’t make it.  Some days I wonder if I will be one of those who join the ranks of those too fragile to tough it out…there is no shame in that (in my opinion).

We all try the best we can, waiting…waiting…waiting for doctors who heal.
