Morgellons Mystery

Morgellons Mystery

Although Morgellons is not usually listed as a co-infection of Lyme, it is commonly associated with chronic Lyme disease, but unfortunately there is more speculation about the disease than hard facts.

Morgellons is a disease that starts with relentless itching, stinging or biting sensations. Cotton-like balls may appear on the body with no reasonable explanation. Soon skin rash develops along with lesions that will not heal.

Victims report string-like fibers of varying color popping out through the skin lesions. These fibers can be black, white, red or even iridescent blue. Others report slimy pustules that break open, scab over and heal within days, while still others report black specks falling from their bodies that litter their sheets and bathrooms.

Eventually a variety of mysterious organisms begin to find their way out of the body through the lesions.

Other symptoms include hair loss, debilitating and chronic fatigue, hard nodules beneath the skin, and joint pain.

It is quickly apparent that many of the symptoms of Morgellons are like Lyme disease and so the disease may take much longer to diagnose, and further complicate chronic Lyme disease.

Recently, Marc Neumann has released an excellent research document on Morgellons that you can access here.

Personally, I have accepted the monthly appearance of these “slimy biofilms” and bizarre skin eruptions as part of my chronic Lyme disease, and rejected the notion of Morgellons because I never saw a filial worm.  After reading Mr. Neumann’s research I can see that it is possible that I have this additional disease to add to my list of co-infections.  My hope is that you will not, but it is wise to have clear and factual information on the condition.

Again, the link to Mr. Neumann’s site is here.

It is important to note that the variations of these biofilms and biological microfibers are very diverse and extremely small. Another aspect of the condition is that the body tends to eject the fibers and biofilm most frequently around the full moon.

My experience has been that the harder I attack the Lyme disease, the more skin eruptions occur.  I have found that the best treatment is megadoses of Himalayan salt (6 – 9 grams per day) which is very effective against Lyme disease as well (See free ebook “Salt and Apples”.)

It is important to consult your LLD if you suspect you have Morgellons.

The topic is quite trendy in the net right now. What do you pay the most attention to while choosing what to write ?

    HI

There is some VERY interesting news in the chronic fatigue syndrome world about hydrogen sulfide (H2S) that is produced by gut bacteria being the cause of most of the symptoms of CFS.

I wonder if this may also be true of Morgellons or Lyme? Hydrogen sulfide is a potent toxin to the brain, and also sensitizes the brain to heightened anxiety. So hydrogen sulfide may cause the anxiety disorder in CFS, and possibly cause the anxiety problems in Morgellons and Lyme too.

The good news is, this situation can be treated.

Two things that help eliminate and mop up hydrogen sulfide in the body are Pepto-Bismol (10 to 20 ml, three times a day), and sublingual vitamin B12 (but it MUST be the hydroxocobalamin form of vitamin B12, as the other forms are not good for mopping up hydrogen sulfide).

A quick visit to your pharmacy to buy some Pepto-Bismol, and an online purchase of some sublingual hydroxocobalamin drops, and your Morgellons symptoms could be treated.

Please note that I am just passing this info in case it helps. I obviously cannot say whether or not hydrogen sulfide is the cause of the mental symptoms of Morgellons / Lyme, but for the cost of a few items, it is easy to test this theory out youself.

There is some discussion about hydrogen sulfide in CFS in the comments section on my blog.

    All the best

PS: There has been a lot of research into high ammonia levels in Morgellons. Since ammonia powerfully activates the anxiety circuitry in the brain ( ammonia potently activates the brain cell NMDA receptors, which mediate anxiety), this makes a lot of sense. Similarly, the neurotoxin hydrogen sulfide over-sensitizes and also activates the NMDA receptors.

    Hi there Hip -

Thanks so much for your interesting theory and information about the H2S and helpful with parasite infestation which also can mimic Lyme easy cure. I would imagine that those items could also be very helpful for those with parasitic infestations…I think it is worth looking into.

    Thanks again for the post!
