Bionic 880 - Fact or Fiction
This fantastic news trickled into the online Lyme community with terrific and much-needed hope, however due to the cost of the treatment (flying to Germany and staying there as long as possible for a minimum of 3 - 4 treatments) or buying a machine ($12,000 depending on the euro conversion rate) put a cold blanket over all but the most financially advantaged Lymie.
However, there have been those who are blessed financially who have made the trip; Troy Cline in the picture (in front) was part of a group of Lymies who ventured together to see Dr Woitzel in Germany to experience the recommended treatments.
There has been a lot chatter on forums and Lyme groups with some claiming a cure and some claiming that it is a waste of money. I believe that each of us have a combination of health concerns that add to a very complex infection or group of infections that requires different treatments to find a meaningful cure.
Troy says the trip was worth it. “I am herxing from it, that is always positive with me, I have only been back a week, but am feeling better every day. I will tell you what I see with the Bionic 880 - I see people in three categories, all the way better, getting better, or really herxing, which all leads to health.”
So what is the Bionic 880?
According to the manufacturer’s website, the Bionic 880 stimulates cells, adjusts hormones (beta-endorphins, cortisol, serotonin and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone)), modulates the immune system and provides for the harmonization of body and psyche.
This is how it works:
The radiated photons are absorbed by the skin, multiply in the body and spread everywhere. They are able to reach into the brain and central nervous system as well as the spinal cord, and harmonize the production of different hormones here: endorphins, serotonin.
Using other connections the photon signals arrive at the adrenal gland and modify the production of DHEA and cortisol.
The technology is based on the premise that there is no life possible without light. So by radiating the correct type of photon light into weak, damaged or infected cells, regeneration of the cells begin to occur.
The photon therapy used in the infrared wave band can activate many metabolic processes, including cell division, for cyclic AMP metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, hemoglobulin, collagen and other protein syntheses, leukocyte activity, production of macrophages and wound healing.
If macrophages are exposed to infrared light within the range of 880 Nm, they release substances, which are helpful repairing damaged cells and which support production of connective tissue.
Infrared light has been proved to have positive effects on leukocytes, several types of lymphocytes, several types of enzymes, prostaglandin production and collagen cells. It was proved that infrared photon radiation leads to an increase of the ATP concentration and the ATPase activity in living tissue.
Another Lymie who has ventured to Germany to be treated by the much-admired and truly gifted (by all accounts) Dr. Woitzel. Before his decision to fly to another continent for treatment, Mojo researched the Bionic 880 in great depth and shared his insights on the actual treatment in October of last year:
“He (Dr. Woitzel) has successfully treated Lyme using a combination of biophysics and homeopathy (also invented by Germans in 18th century mind you). Each patient has a nosode for Lyme, which is basically a vial that carries the vibrational frequency of Lyme and only Lyme, and a live vial of Lyme taped to their solar plexus, and a contact device on the machine projects a 880nm light onto various parts of the body for a few minutes each. There are a few mechanisms to describe why this remove Lyme:
1) the frequency of the photons once inside the body are a mirror image the frequency of the pathogen, denaturing or weakening the pathogen and allowing our cells to expel it,
2) the application of nosodes and live vials trigger the immune system to target & destroy expelled lyme, and
3) the light immediately restores cellular communication to enhance leukocytes and their target-and-destroy activity.
“Over time, the cumulative effect of photons restores the cells’ metabolic processes. It also regulates production of leukocytes, lymphocytes, enzymes, prostaglandins and connective tissue.
“Basically, the theory behind their efficacy is the same as that of stem cells: restore the body’s innate systems. Except one uses quantum electrodynamics, and the more well known one, hot and smart substitute teachers. Both are “inside-out” treatments, and I really believe this is where medicine needs to go when it finally breaks off from the antiquated germ theory of illnesses.
“All this might sound like a scene from “What The Bleep Do We Know?” But whether you’re a PhD or have a doctorate in yo mama, you can appreciate results. According to Dr. Woitzel, he has had a success rate of >90% in treating Borreliosis (Lyme) in 500 patients over a 7-year period, with a relapse rate of 1-2% (6 patients with re-onset). In his poor man’s version of phase I & II clinical trials (remember, they don’t have a FDA), he treated and monitored 108 patients over 3 years, with a success rate of 96%. And all this is achieved with an average of 6 treatments per patient over the course of 3 weeks.”
Mojo came home with a clean bill of health (Lyme-free) but he is still sick.
So does the Bionic 880 cure Lyme? Even those who say “Yes” are almost all still sick - but fighting what? Lyme? Co-infections? Parasites? I certainly can’t say, but it seems like a far cry from the success rate of >96%.
Testimonies are seductive - we all want to be cured.
I guess “cure” is a relative thing depending upon how sick you are to begin with. I believe that a cure will be total recovery to vibrant health. But for some it may mean being able to walk.

Since when is the Bionic $12,000? It is between 8,000 plus and 9,000 US something. Most people receive 5 plus treatments in Germany. Please if you are going to bother to write about this treatment it is important to get your facts straight.

Hi Frank -
It really depends on the exchange rate - and the cost published from people who have done this treatment vary according to many variations.
If my estimate seems a discouragement, I deeply apologize - most people I know with severe neuro-Lyme (including myself) would pay anything to get better! If you have the money, I think it is worth trying. However, so many of us are broke from all the protocol trials, medical bills, supplements…it is important to have an idea of cost, don’t you agree?
Blessings,
Jenna
