Finding a Lyme-literate Doctor
The first and best way to find a LLD is to get a personal
recommendation from your local Lyme Support Group. If you don't know of any support group, visit
www.lymenet.org to find the
group nearest to you.
Otherwise go here for email
Another resource is the “Doctor Referral” program
- but you must register first, and then you may search for only 3
contacts at a time. However, the list is nationwide.
If you prefer working with your primary care doctor, you should be
prepared to assist him/her with medical research. There are some very professional and helpful treatment papers
"Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease: Diagnostic Hints and Treatment
Guidelines for Lyme and other Tick Borne Illnesses" by Dr. Joseph J. Burrascano, who wrote the first version in
1984 - this is the 15th edition and includes all of the latest testing procedures. This is a great paper to share
with friends and family to better understand the complicated disease. Download here.

Joseph G. Jemsek, MD is the namesake and founder of
the Jemsek Specialty Clinic of Washington, D.C. After practicing medicine in Charlotte, North Carolina, for more
than 20 years with the Nalle Clinic, Dr. Jemsek created a specialty infectious disease practice in 2000 with the
goal of serving individuals with HIV/AIDS as he had done since 1983, in addition to pursuing the practice of
general infectious disease.
Over the past decade, Dr. Jemsek
has also cultivated clinical and research interest in Lyme Borreliosis, commonly referred to as Lyme Disease. Dr.
Jemsek prefers the term Lyme Borreliosis Complex (LBC), which he feels better reflects an immune-compromising
syndrome affecting multiple organ systems and caused by multiple coexisting infections. In spite of the political
barriers that currently exist, he continues to create and evolve innovative approaches in the treatment of LBC and
is in the process of collaborating with other researchers in the development of credentialed treatment protocols.
The Jemsek Specialty Clinic's facility in Washington, D.C., is principally devoted to the care of patients with
LBC; future goals include, with the benefit of collaboration with like-minded physicians, additional clinic
locations in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US regions.
Specialty Clinic in Washington, D.C., officially opened in January 2010.
Dr Klinghardt - Dr Dietrich Klinghardt MD,
PhD, is Founder of the American Academy of Neural Therapy, Medical
Director of the Institute of Neurobiology, and lead clinician at the Comprehensive Medical Centre, all located in
Bellevue, Washington. He is also Founder and Chairman of Klinghardt Academy.
Internationally known for his
successful treatment of chronic pain and illness, Dr. Klinghardt combines non-surgical orthopaedic medicine with
immunology, endocrinology, toxicology, neural therapy, hypnotherapy and energy psychology. His unique approach to
diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders on both the physical and mental-emotional levels recognises that
good health is dependent on a well-functioning autonomic nervous system, a healthy mind that creates a balanced
emotional state, a supportive network of relationships within current and past generations of the family and
correct supplements and treatment. In addition to his expertise on metal toxicity and many other chronic
diseases, Dr. Klinghardt has become a leading authority on chronic Lyme disease.
